Assassination Attempt

I had already scheduled Sunday’s post several hours previously when I read the news that there had been an assassination attempt against Donald Trump. Although tomorrow’s post will drop as scheduled, I wanted to give everyone a place to discuss this horrifying development.
What I have read thus far suggests that Trump was struck through the top of his right ear, and while there was a lot of blood, he is expected to be fine. At least one person who was on the stand behind Trump is dead, and at least one more is seriously injured.
I have also seen the prominent Leftists who have been baying for Trump’s blood for the last 8 years now suddenly expressing sympathy, concern, and dismay at “political violence.” Do I believe a word of it? No, I do not. Lots of Leftists on social media are expressing their disappointment that the shooter missed.
Apparently the shooter was killed by Secret Service snipers shortly after taking his shots. But I have also seen interviews with rally attendees who noticed the would-be assassin climbing the roof several minutes before the shooting, and who told law enforcement what they were seeing, but who also say that law enforcement did little or nothing in response to their warnings.
I’ve also seen questions being raised about why a building close enough to the stage to serve as a sniping platform was not secured by the Secret Service in advance of the rally. Additionally, the Secret Service snipers appear (in video footage) to have spotted the shooter before the shooting started, but did not fire at him until after he had fired first. I’m sure there will be more questions raised (and hopefully answers provided) as video evidence is studied and all the people involved debriefed.
Although I’m going to try to stay away from media most of the day tomorrow (as I usually do), I will check in tomorrow night and make a post for Monday morning with as much additional info as I can gather. I just hope that things are clearer, not muddier, by Sunday night.

I watched Biden's very quick response to the shooting. He seemed unusually coherent. Almost as though he had been coached well in advance, Of course that may only be my deeply suspicious nature creeping out. It was truly disgusting to watch him publicly deny and decry violence after all he has said and done. I actually expected them to try to kill Trump long before this and I have been worried about RFK's safety, especially since BIden denied him secret service protection and he has had to pay for/provide his own security. But considering what a piss poor job the secret service just did, maybe it's best RFK has his own private protection after all.
The proximity of the shooter's position to Mr. Trump's dais is very, very disconcerting. It looks like a complete failure that this nearby rooftop wasn't secured and that, according to early reports, bystander identification of a shooter threat was not quickly met with the seriousness that such a threat deserves. With the caveat that it's still early and countervailing facts may emerge, at this moment it looks like very sloppy security work or some kind of intentional lapse.
Am I the only one that was concerned when the news announced that the FBI was coming in to investigate? It pains me to say so, but I wouldn't let today's FBI, of Steele Dossier, FISA fakery and Hunter laptop fame, anywhere near the crime scene, evidence or witnesses.
