Sharing Saturday - Danger: nuclear zone!
I’ve gone back and forth about posting this one, and I finally decided that if there was ever a day to post it, it was today. I saw the meme on TwiX a while back (evidently the concept started back when Oppenheimer came out a few years ago), and although there were many disturbingly serious (and seriously disturbing) answers that reflected badly on the people writing them, there were also some darkly funny answers that really made me laugh.
If you’d rather just discuss whether it was appropriate to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, jump straight to the comments and do that. But if you have a dark sense of humor and can think of funny answers, please play the game.
The game:
Examples:
Got bombs?

Ok. Aside from the obvious murder is bad, those were funny.
True pedophiles deserve to be drawn and quartered so a bomb is too good for them.
Bombing CA, nah, it’s too beautiful. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
What would I get rid of? Basically most of the Middle East. We need to seriously reduce the Muslim population.
All I can say is watch WW2 with Tom Hanks. He makes a very good case as to why the US bombed Japan. Actually the 20 programme series was far better than anticipated. One should always remember that it took 2 and the Japanese high command wanted to continue the war but the Emperor overruled. The main raison d'etre of the series is to explain why the US became a global player and why NATO was required (the last programme).
Cambridge has been unable to draw a line under the Arday affair btw. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/aug/07/cambridge-academics-reject-universitys-attempt-to-end-row-over-jason-arday
And Glasgow is now going to investigate. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/society-culture-and-history/social-issues/glasgow-university-to-review-its-past-appointment-of-jason-arday/ar-AA29CCup?ocid=BingNewsSerp Apparently Arday went to primary school near where the novelist Philip Hensher lives (something he just learned) and locals remember him as a normal child (ie not non-verbal) -- there is a tiktok video about this by someone claiming to be a former classmate also doing the rounds. https://x.com/PhilipHensher/status/2086016404310863965
And the Ann Widdecombe police have reopened an inquiry to an alleged attempt in 2025 to firebomb Farage https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2026/aug/07/counter-terrorism-police-investigating-death-of-ann-widdecombe-reopen-2025-attempted-burglary-case
