Cancer here with a Scorpio moon and it always seemed to me that since Cancer is ruled by the moon- my moon sign was just as influential in my make up as my sun sign. I think I remember reading that in past interpretations of astrology the moon sign was actually considered more important than your sun sign. Not an astrology buff per se, but folks I know who are, have been much more than randomly accurate in linking planetary movements to on the ground experience imo. How can humans not be effected by the movements of celestial bodies when everything else in nature is? The tides of course being an obvious example.
Got curious so googled it - AI says this---The Moon sign has deep historical roots and was historically much more central to astrological practice. While modern pop astrology heavily prioritizes the Sun sign, older and traditional systems view the Moon sign as equally or more important.
Even more influential is which sign is "rising" over the horizon. I used to cast Astrological charts for people, just for fun. I had the Book of Houses and an Ephemeris, and it became clear to me that the sun sign was almost, but not quite, irrelevant. There are 12
"Houses", and where each planet was located at birth supposedly influences your life. Each "House" has a certain significance, and each planet has its certain characteristics. Nine planets, twelve "Houses", and the sun sign for your date and time of birth...the combinations are endless, and the possibilities are endless. The "rising " sign is possibly one of the most influential, the star sign almost insignificant.
I’ve seen conjecture on Twitter that “the big bang” was actually a prior contraction of the universe into a speck of dust because of gravitational pull that destroyed a prior universe and created the one we are in today. I’ve also seen similar speculation that we are in a black hole. Much beyond my pay grade to comprehend or even debate on the merits.
I've been studying Man's relationship with the creator of nature for years and years. I'm at the point of deciding that gravity is a good part of the mystery behind it all. I can also go with the Judao-Christian God putting it all into motion, and walking away, standing aside to see what happens. What else could be His purpose or interest? Maybe a hobbie?
Also, apparently the stars have long since shifted from the millennia ado when these systems were devised so I believe that we’re all technically the star sign of the month before the one we were designated at birth😉
Now that's very interesting as here we are dealing with Iran big time. It would be kinda cool to read what a modern Iranian astrologer has to say about what is going on now.
You can also use Google or Perplexity to do your whole chart. I just tried it, but actually neither said anything resembling what my friend said over 50 years ago, so I don't know. Plug in the time and place you were born for a better reading.
Such things were all the rage about the same time Immanuel Velikovsky's books about long-ago spaceships were.
Good Morning RMW I don’t really understand what all the moon sign ascending means except I guess it’s the position of the moon at your birth. That may have an actual marginal effect as tidal forces are real and we are mostly water. But distant constellations? No way, PS the constellations are totally different in the Southern Hemisphere (look at Incan star charts), so how does that work?
Mr Karg That’s why women call me “Indiana Poet Jones”. I have conducted numerous searches for the Holy Grail, in fact I filmed a porno in Van Nuys titled “Indiana Poet Jones Finds the Lost Clitoris” 🙋♂️
In that production, did you run across Howard Ziehm, one of the early founders of the porno industry. Howard was an MIT dropout avoiding the draft fled to Mexico, ran marijuana. Then hid out at Venice Beach, learned photography, taking stills of topless girl beach goers, graduated to 8mm loops, and the rest is history. He was one of my best friends and Golf partners, got burnt out in one of the Malibu fires, rebuilt doing his own design and contracting, using the immigrant workers from down on PCH. Quite a guy, didn't smoke or drink, was a hell of a good Golfer. A dear friend.
I haven't a clue. However if you believe in quantum entanglement then it seems to me it would follow that distant things do indeed effect us, as we are made of basically the same minerals etc. Many indigenous peoples believe(d) our ancestors came from the stars. So who knows?
When I was in Peru a while back I used a constellation App to learn about the various southern constellations. It was pretty cool. I was disappointed that I could not see the Southern Cross because it was blocked by the earth.
Each year when I go to the southern hemisphere I look for the southern cross. It’s hard to find but it’s fascinating how it’s used to find the celestial South Pole. And of course, I’ve got a CSN ear worm now.
Up and down. He was supposed to go to rehab on Friday but they messed up his kidneys so he is still in hospital. So appreciate the good thoughts and prayers.
That's me [cheerfully]. I hang on to things like grim death.
An old friend back in the 1970s once did my astrology chart, with moons and risings and the sun's in so and so. I remember only the gist, which was, Nothing will be easy for you.
So what else is new for most people?
She had gone to an old wise woman, from somewhere, up a flight of dirty stairs in Coney Island, to learn the ropes. The woman read my friend's palm:
"I see! Sometimes you are happy, and sometimes you are sad. Sometimes you like to be alone, and sometimes you like to be with pipple. Sometimes . . . ."
My friend wanted to go to a fortune teller or palm reader, not sure which, when we were just out of college living in DC. There was a sign and we went up a flight of stairs {in Georgetown IIRC). The woman answered the door and said “can you come back later I’m giving my kid a bath”. We both left and I said if she didn’t know we were coming we shouldn’t waste our time :)
Gemini here with a Virgo moon rising. I am true to the sign, as in it's a coin toss which side you'll get. I am in extreme productivity mode, or I am relaxing and reading.... do not bother me. Over the years, I have learned to temper these 2 things to function when/where appropriate.
My husband says I can go from 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds, but he is unsure if it's a Gemini thing or a Red-Head thing! 😜
My daughter was born a Gemini, but she was very tardy in delivery and is more true to Taurus, the sign she was supposed to be born under!
Not something to be discussed in general conversation, though.
Talking about various New Jersey shore towns (was it at cocktails? dinner?), a friend mentioned one, and I piped up, cheerfully, "That's where I was conceived!"
Great. Please get this done when you can: offer a rational explanation of how distant celestial bodies influence human behavior. What about cultures who use different calendrical systems? Dozens do. Or uncontacted Amazon tribes who don’t know about birthdays? Let me go hit the bong for breakfast and I’ll help! 🤷
Hahaha PoetKen!! I’m like Celia, I’ve never really invested any effort in this, but I do recognize patterns, especially of behavior. That’s the one thing I’ve seen re zodiac signs——a loose link of behavior traits, especially as self-identified within a zodiac group. If the moon pulls the tides and women’s menstrual cycles, hey, who’s to say it doesn’t influence lots of other things?!
At all the bars in SoCal I was a boring Aquarius, until 1968. In that year the musical "Hair" became a popular Broadway musical, and the news finally made it to LA. After 1968, I was the most sought after. That's my relationship with Astrology.
"I’ve never known an Aries who wasn’t stubborn. Or a Cancer who wasn’t rather reserved. Or a Virgo who wasn’t amazingly kind." Or a Gemini that wasn't brilliant and witty. And a sparkling conversationalist. I don't put much stock in astrology but as the Bard said "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Pattern recognition, indeed. Lol
Gemini here-birthday this week, which means let the celebration commence!
Poll closed so I didn’t get to vote/count.
Too busy going to the only Freedom Truck stop in New England that wasn’t canceled. The VFW in Suffield CT hosted this weekend. Turnout ~1800. People, like myself, came from up to two hours away. It was worth it. I only knew of it because my Mom still reads newspapers and they had articles about the Massachusetts and Rhode Island stops being canceled. What a shame. Also there were protesters because PragerU and Hillside College contributed to the display. Shameful.
PS: I scored 10 out of 10 on the multiple choice citizenship test. It only requires 6 out of 10, which was a D- when I was in school. Note: it said only 36% of American adults can pass!
A tarnished concept. I was gonna just sit this one out but. Could it be ( the "signs" being tied to the calendar) that the climate (aka weather) at the birth time -- or the conception time! -- is of more consequence then the "sign?"
Taurus here. I thought the bull was supposed to be stubborn. Anyway I’m ruled by Venus and I love earthly things. Mountains, forests and lakes etc. Other traits are dependable and patient. I am waiting patiently for my sister to come out of her TDS syndrome.
“Your chart describes someone who is socially magnetic and intellectually alive (Gemini rising), with a wild, idealistic heart (Sagittarius sun), but a tender, loyal emotional core that most people never see (Cancer moon).”
Say what you will about astrology but this definitely describes me!
14 % Scorpio on this site so far and my birthday is November 14. All I will say today is I read Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs at some point in college when my first serious girlfriend was a Cancer, which the book claims is the perfect pairing, (She’s July 11). Always thoughts it was bullshit. I get to law school and Diet Coke Partner and I start dating, quickly getting serious, was flabbergasted when she told me her birthday: July 8: also a Cancer, 😮 There are more things in heaven and heart than are dreamt of in our philosophy.
Admiral Grandpa's birthday was November 12. Know nothing about what his chart would be, but he definitely had Scorpio traits big time. Hubby is Scorpio sun with Scorpio rising. Apparently Scorpio is the only sign that is represented by multiple animals- scorpion, eagle, snake and phoenix. Powerful, deep and complex. Also in traditional astrology Scorpio is aligned with Mars- definitely grandpa's pattern.
Ha ha. Sort of. But we were actually in love..until she got us thrown in the drunk tank over her histrionic ways. The female cop who took me for my phone call said, “we found your Bar Card in your wallet. You need to seriously think about who you're dating and why”. Lmfao 😂
Oh that sounds familiar. Ex had a run in with a cop and had a whole squad descend on our house. One of the guys pulled me aside and said "is she always like this?"
I’ve known some sociopathic Virgos. The subject of my next book. One of them was an obese nymphomaniac nurse who was caught mounting male patients (this came up the other night in conversation with a friend who knew her.)
The subject of the book belongs to a cult and upon being driven past my breaking point I contacted a filmmaker who’d worked with her previously; this woman told me that she moved across the country in an attempt to clear the “evil” Virgo’s voice from her head.
This Dog is a Leo with a Taurus moon or rising not sure which is which with the Scorpio, but a fortune teller said that the Taurus tempers the Leo arrogance. You decide.
I have got to know more about the particular traits of sociopathic Virgos, because that sounds like a fascinating twist. I've always heard it said that when the best go bad, they are the most evil of all.
Internet says that Virgo have a control-freak side that can be extremely toxic if it gets turned upon you. Sounds consistent with a narcissistic Virgo, like that miserable woman you had to deal with.
Libra here, the balancing scales, sometimes making binary decisions difficult, as we are always seeking the middle way.
Astrology and Astronomy were inexplicably linked from about 2 CE (Ptolemy and Galileo) until about the 16th century when astronomy pulled ahead of astrology as a “hard” science by the elite during the Copernican Revolution.
Astronomy was seen as an empirical science with testable outcomes that challenged the geocentric worldview astrology relied upon. Astrology persisted but became a divinatory/interpretive practice and increasingly seen as pseudoscience, which became cemented during the Enlightenment. For some reason this split reminds me of our Covid dilemma. 🤔
I don't believe any of it. The last time I was interested in my horoscope was when I was about 14/15 years old. I was a young, dopey, teenager. It used to be a feature in every newspaper and magazine. I'm not judging anyone, but it's all a bunch of hocus pocus to me.
Hi PKJ! I was quite taken by Jim Morrison's singer - song writer and poetic talent. I found him to be super good looking with a charismatic persona. What a frontman!
Like you , I don't subscribe to everyday astrological guidance.... I do however believe that we are imbued by the cosmos with certain overall personal traits that are dependent upon our time and place of birth... and can be elucidated by our Natal Chart.
And I might add that I believe that those "overall personal traits" can be fine-tuned, subdued or enhanced, if we pay attention to the world around us, pay attention to ourselves, and govern ourselves accordingly.
Virgo here. I’m the mutable earth sign that is ruled by Mercury. My strengths are observant, hardworking, reliable and deeply organized. My weaknesses are perfectionism, overthinking and a tendency to be overly critical of myself and others. Because I’m ruled by Mercury, the planet of intellect and communication, I posses a quick- witted and sharp intelligence. I accelerate at professions that require editing, research, or intricate problem solving.
Word for word from “Virgo Astrology” search @ Google. That’s me.
That DOES sound very accountant like, Brian. My brother in law is an accountant and he calls me “his Bohemian brother in law”. We had a fascinating discussion once about how he uses creativity to solve accounting problems. At the end he said “obviously not your type of creativity” and I said “👍it takes all types. And mine is kind of a curse anyway” Hey, maybe it was some alignment of the planets and ✨ 🤔 Nah 🛑
No alignment of the planets, just luck, which I’d rather be than good. Trust me, mine is a curse too. In a sense I was very lucky. College did what it what it was supposed to do. I took various business classes as a Business Major and liked Accouting. It was orderly and precise. So I chose to major in accounting and then worked for 35 years at PwC. It was a blast.
Cancer here with a Scorpio moon and it always seemed to me that since Cancer is ruled by the moon- my moon sign was just as influential in my make up as my sun sign. I think I remember reading that in past interpretations of astrology the moon sign was actually considered more important than your sun sign. Got curious so googled it - AI says this---The Moon sign has deep historical roots and was historically much more central to astrological practice. While modern pop astrology heavily prioritizes the Sun sign, older and traditional systems view the Moon sign as equally or more important.
Astrology and religion, I find, are quite malleable. The moon and sun thing in Astrology is akin to Catholics' Jesus and Mary thing.
They both have the tensile strength of chewing gum to me Mr Karg.
Even more influential is which sign is "rising" over the horizon. I used to cast Astrological charts for people, just for fun. I had the Book of Houses and an Ephemeris, and it became clear to me that the sun sign was almost, but not quite, irrelevant. There are 12

Interesting
Pluto is no longer ranked as a planet. What if the asteroid belt was an ancient destroyed planet? So many questions, so much irrational speculation
Another laugh, thanks PK. Except, I think it works better if you leave off after, "So many questions...." Let 'em have at it.
Agree we are all ignorant to the ultimate mystery but I could mine your comment for some solid erotic poetry. 😃
I’m not even going to go there. 🤣🤣
I lean towards the electric universe theory. But yes, gravity is a wave as are all the fundamental forces.
I wonder what He is doing now ?
The astronomer who came up with that theory was a Catholic priest. Ever notice that the Big Bang is basically “Let there be light”?
Self serving indeed.
In the story, the light got invented before the eye, that's why He had to invent us, in order to have something to put it in.
Also, apparently the stars have long since shifted from the millennia ado when these systems were devised so I believe that we’re all technically the star sign of the month before the one we were designated at birth😉
🤔🤔 this is making me want to do some reading on the subject. Who knows.
That makes sense to me. I’m Gemini rising and it totally fits.
“Pop” Astrology? As opposed to classical?
Jeez, I'm just reading a book reporting how all this stuff began in Iran, 9,000 bc.
Now that's very interesting as here we are dealing with Iran big time. It would be kinda cool to read what a modern Iranian astrologer has to say about what is going on now.
If I were President I would order a drone strike on his ass and we’d be done ✔️
I wholeheartedly second that for sure.
What you see is what he's saying.
Ha Ha.
🤣🤣
You can also use Google or Perplexity to do your whole chart. I just tried it, but actually neither said anything resembling what my friend said over 50 years ago, so I don't know. Plug in the time and place you were born for a better reading.
Such things were all the rage about the same time Immanuel Velikovsky's books about long-ago spaceships were.
Worlds in Collision theory would kind of mess up astrology’s framework. Then again, so did Jeane Dixon’s periods. 🩸
But what if, instead of at birth, the earth moved for the receiver, at the moment of conception?
A whole new perspective on--' I felt the earth move.'
Mr Karg That’s why women call me “Indiana Poet Jones”. I have conducted numerous searches for the Holy Grail, in fact I filmed a porno in Van Nuys titled “Indiana Poet Jones Finds the Lost Clitoris” 🙋♂️

He's on Wikipedia, if you want confirmation for some of this.
I know who you are Mr Karg. You ain’t no liar, you’re the real deal, dude. We must make an oral history of your Hollywood life
I haven't a clue. However if you believe in quantum entanglement then it seems to me it would follow that distant things do indeed effect us, as we are made of basically the same minerals etc. Many indigenous peoples believe(d) our ancestors came from the stars. So who knows?
We are in fact from the stars.
Supposedly pretty much everything is made of stardust…
True.
When I was in Peru a while back I used a constellation App to learn about the various southern constellations. It was pretty cool. I was disappointed that I could not see the Southern Cross because it was blocked by the earth.
That is too bad, I saw it in Samoa and all I could think of was the CSN song
Exactly.
Stephen Stills was brilliant on the tune.
The man can write a song for sure 👍
He can play the guitar too.
Each year when I go to the southern hemisphere I look for the southern cross. It’s hard to find but it’s fascinating how it’s used to find the celestial South Pole. And of course, I’ve got a CSN ear worm now.
Yup.
I never liked Nash/Because he got to smash/Both Joni and Carly/awesome and gnarly/Im just jealous/pass the relish….
I never liked Joni, shrill voice but she had no choice. That’s the best I can do. Never as good as you!
I have no idea what that even means. Sorry.
More importantly, I am wondering how Mr. Rainbow Medicine-Walker is doing… I hope he is doing better.🙏🥰
Up and down. He was supposed to go to rehab on Friday but they messed up his kidneys so he is still in hospital. So appreciate the good thoughts and prayers.
"I’ve never known an Aries who wasn’t stubborn."

Kinda like the old gypsy woman in The Werewolf??
"
Maria Ouspenskya! Definitely.
Ouspenskya was also the grandmother in the Charles Boyer "Love Affair," precursor to "An Affair to Remember" with Cary Grant.
My husband is a Gemini and has the productive/relaxed modes.
I've often wondered if the conception time isn't more important.
Not something to be discussed in general conversation, though.
Talking about various New Jersey shore towns (was it at cocktails? dinner?), a friend mentioned one, and I piped up, cheerfully, "That's where I was conceived!"
Dead silence. Then: Too much information, B.
I am the embodiment of Capricorn. So if you need to get something done, I’m your girl!
Me too Kate
hahaha.... I am sensing some sarcasm this morning.....😜
Actually I’m heading to a convenience store for a THC-A product, I had a tough week 😂
I’ll concede that point
Thank you for tasking that explanation; my brain is fried from all the peopling and partying this weekend! 😂
😂😂
Hahahahaha
At all the bars in SoCal I was a boring Aquarius, until 1968. In that year the musical "Hair" became a popular Broadway musical, and the news finally made it to LA. After 1968, I was the most sought after. That's my relationship with Astrology.
You lucky dog.
I have the sheet music book for Hair. What an absurd musical. Ive written a mock of the
title track where the guy gets lice. Almost Cut My Hair, Indeed,
Heh, 100% Aries and 100% stubborn! Guilty as charged! 😎

You do realize that my tongue was firmly in cheek???????
Of course Counselor. I have the utmost respect for your intelligence not to be fooled by this obviously preposterous poppycock.
You got a a heart from me just for the use of the word poppycock.
Happy Birthday week! Mine is today. Did not know about the freedom truck. New England has been treasonous crazy since the War of 1812.
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy happy birthday Bruce!
Happy Birthday!
Thank you
Thanks!
I believe in science. 😉
Party pooper.
Are Sagittarians poopers? Maybe its just the stars I was born under? I am going to consult my ouija board
🤣
Yes, yes they are! 😉
First out loud laugh of the day! Thanks Michael.
A tarnished concept. I was gonna just sit this one out but. Could it be ( the "signs" being tied to the calendar) that the climate (aka weather) at the birth time -- or the conception time! -- is of more consequence then the "sign?"
When I think of signs I think of bill engvall
???
Comedian who appeared often w Foxworthy. engvals pet line was " its a sign"
Here's your sign
My bad
Aha.
The Five Man Electrical Band. #1 in 1970
Signs are everywhere
Or red lights. Tootles the Train.
Born under a bad sign.
I believe in the scientific method. I remain skeptical of “the science”.
The Fauch may not like that.
Win!
We are all winners , except for the whiners.
Alas, even the whiners may have their day from time to time. It’s the wieners ya gotta look out for.
Touche
Taurus here. I thought the bull was supposed to be stubborn. Anyway I’m ruled by Venus and I love earthly things. Mountains, forests and lakes etc. Other traits are dependable and patient. I am waiting patiently for my sister to come out of her TDS syndrome.
My Dad was a Taurus.... patience was NOT a trait he possessed.
I normally pretty patient about things but when I’ve had enough.. watch out!
Yep, that’s me, too.
There’s something: does TDS appear across all the signs? Is the Donald a 13th Sign?
“Your chart describes someone who is socially magnetic and intellectually alive (Gemini rising), with a wild, idealistic heart (Sagittarius sun), but a tender, loyal emotional core that most people never see (Cancer moon).”

The student I dated was a Scorpio, Scorpio on Scorpio is a bit too fiery for comfort,
Hmmmm....revealing. Donald Sutherland's Animal House character?
Ha ha. Sort of. But we were actually in love..until she got us thrown in the drunk tank over her histrionic ways. The female cop who took me for my phone call said, “we found your Bar Card in your wallet. You need to seriously think about who you're dating and why”. Lmfao 😂

obese nymphomaniac nurse ......
What an image.......
If they put me in a nursing home, I’ll take it
She was endearingly referred to as “Fatty Patty the 300 pound nymphomaniac.”
No wonder you’re so leonine and stubborn. In a good way
Ah, a Leo. I believe that. From one fire sign to another. ❤️😂
I have got to know more about the particular traits of sociopathic Virgos, because that sounds like a fascinating twist. I've always heard it said that when the best go bad, they are the most evil of all.

Textbook covert narcissist. So was the nympho nurse for that matter. Passive aggressive, impulsive, destructive, irrational…

My dad and father-in-law were both Libras (actually born on the same day, in different years). Definitely always looking for a middle way.
I don't believe any of it. The last time I was interested in my horoscope was when I was about 14/15 years old. I was a young, dopey, teenager. It used to be a feature in every newspaper and magazine. I'm not judging anyone, but it's all a bunch of hocus pocus to me.
My Mary! Jim Morrison say “let me sleep all night in your Soul Kitchen!” 😊
Is it the Cosmos or the earthly reality of time, place, and manner restrictions? 🤔
I don't possess the knowledge to answer that question with any amount of certainty... But I like the way you think!
And I might add that I believe that those "overall personal traits" can be fine-tuned, subdued or enhanced, if we pay attention to the world around us, pay attention to ourselves, and govern ourselves accordingly.
Thanks, the drugs are beginning to take effect 😮🤷
Birds of a feather flock together... :)
We are and by rights should be self governing entities but many folks aren’t there yet, sadly 😞I like the way you think Mr Burkett 👏
That’s me.
In other words, a good accountant! 😂
🎯🎯🎯🎯
