Oh My Gosh, I felt like I was a young whipper snapper back home in Okie land when I read thru these good laughs. I shared some with my husband, who was born, raised and lived all his life in northern WA state and he didn't really get it. I guess it's just a cultural thing. I have a funny personal story to share re the end of the southern goodbye-- 'Watch for deer'. Years ago up here in the north I was driving late at night out in the boonies with a friend. I got pulled over by a state patrolman who claimed I had veered over the shoulder side white line several times. After reassuring himself I was not drunk, he cautioned me not to drive over the white shoulder side line any more and I swear to this day I heard him say... 'because you might hit a dead deer on the side of the road'! My friend in the car with me that night claims that what he actually said was.... ' You might hit a pedestrian on the side of the road.' Except I had driven that road hundreds of times, day and night and never ever seen a single pedestrian, but I had certainly seen lots of both living and dead deer at the side of that road!

I loved the one about some people's cornbread isn't done in the middle. True on many levels.
Thanks for the smiles.
Safe travels back.
